ABOUT ABOUT

Forest Therapy Walks are based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku which was developed in the 1980s in response to a health crisis called "Karoshi" aka "Death by overwork."

These walks have many scientifically proven health benefits both physical and mental including reduced stress and anxiety, a boosted immune system, improved heart rate variability and reduction in cortisol levels. A regular walk practice can benefit you similar to how attending a gym or yoga class on a regular basis can improve your health. Attending a walk with a guide such as myself, is better than going it alone as it allows you to partake in the invitations without the stress of worrying about time or what to do next. In turn, allowing you to have a more relaxed and beneficial practice.

This Forest Therapy Walk is in the Cornelia & Florence Bridge Nature Preserve on Twin Lakes Road. Walks take place rain or shine so please dress appropriately for the weather and bring a camp stool/chair or a sitting pad.
